Trackside on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad
Join LCRV as we take you trackside to witness in glorious sound
and stunning high definition, man and machines climb up to the 10,000' summit of Cumbres Pass, with grades of up to 4%.
Once a branch of the Denver and Rio Grande, this narrow gauge line started off hauling silver and other minerals from
Colorado, to the mainline connection at Antonito, Colorado. Now, thousands of passengers are able to enjoy the unforgettable
journey on board the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. It is easy to understand why the 64 mile route from Chama, NM
to Antonito attracts so many visitors each year, many having previously ridden the C&T before. We take you
trackside, as we cover the most challenging part of the trip, the eastward journey out of Chama, as we climb the stiff grade
towards Cumbres Pass. We then continue our trip briefly into the Los Rio Pinos Valley. We finish up following
the westbound counterpart from the Los Rio Pinos Valley back to Chama. On our last day in New Mexico, and our travel
day, we were treated to an unscheduled steam doubleheader, from Chama to Cumbres Pass. Witness the amazing battle
of machine and mountain and enjoy incredible steam railroading in the beautiful southwestern Rockies as LCRV takes you..... Trackside on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad
